Historic Trolley Tours Return to the La Crosse Region

Step aboard and experience the stories, scenery and surprises that make the La Crosse Region so special. Explore La Crosse’s Historic Trolley Tours return for the 2026 season, with tickets now on sale for three unforgettable fall adventures.

From September through October, ride in comfort aboard an air-conditioned and heated trolley while knowledgeable local historians from the La Crosse County Historical Society bring the region’s history to life. Discover fascinating stories, historic landmarks, scenic overlooks and plenty of surprises along the way.

Dark La Crosse Experience
Explore the city’s darker side with stories of the red-light district, political scandals and grisly events. Along the way, enjoy private performances and refreshments at the Pump House Regional Arts Center. Tours run select Friday evenings September–October.

Grand La Crosse Tour — NEW!
Everything that makes our city “grand!” A grand historic home, a grand view, a grand time! This three-hour tour includes all the highlights of La Crosse, including a tour of the Hixon House (a favorite of our river cruise boat visitors!), a visit to Grandad Bluff, one of the highest overlooks on the entire Mississippi, and a V.I.P. lunch at Le Chateau restaurant. Plus lots of surprises!

We Love La Crescent Tour — NEW!
What’s not to love about La Crescent? Discover the charms of the “Apple Capital of Minnesota.” This four-hour tour includes a visit to the family-owned Van Lin Orchards, the La Crescent History Center, and the Apple Blossom Overlook (not quite as high as Grandad Bluff, but still a mighty fine view!). The tour will end at the Minnesota Visitors’ Center with a Minnesota wine and Wisconsin cheese tasting. Plus (you guessed it!) lots of surprises!
