The Producers headline MetroJam in Manitowoc

Video music icons The Producers are the headline act for Manitowoc’s annual MetroJam festival. They will take the stage at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, in Washington Park as part of the event’s two-day lineup.

A new wave/power pop band from Atlanta, Georgia, The Producers came to prominence in the early 1980s. They are still performing today with the original line up including Van Temple on guitar and vocals, Kyle Henderson on bass and vocals, Wayne Famous on keyboards, and Bryan Holmes on drums and vocals.

Originally formed as a Beatles cover band, they changed musical directions and began performing their own material in nightclubs around the Atlanta area. After being signed by Portrait Records, the band toured with Cheap Trick and The Motels and also played with such acts as Toto and Hall and Oates. In 1982, the band headlined MTV’s New Year’s Eve Rock n’ Roll Ball. Today, they continue to play regular live shows throughout the United States.

This summer marks the MetroJam’s 44th year of bringing national, regional and local music to the Lakeshore area. Numerous acts are slated to appear at the festival, a free two-day event that will run Saturday and Sunday, June 16-17. Attendees can check out the full artist lineup at www.metrojam.org.

In addition to The Producers, the performances will offer a full spectrum of musical styles including jazz, blues, reggae, ska, folk, alt-country, Americana, classic rock, and original rock.

The Grow It Forward organization will offer concessions at Metro Jam, which is a funding source for its work to meet anti-hunger goals and to feed change in Manitowoc County.
