Annual Fair highlights clean energy, sustainable living

The Midwest Renewable Energy Association will host its 32nd Annual Energy Fair June 23-25 at the organization’s headquarters in Custer.

Each year, the Energy Fair brings people together to share clean energy and sustainable living knowledge in an unwavering effort to build a sustainable future.

Education is at the heart of the Fair, with over 170 workshops presented by topic experts. The lineup speaks to industry trends and addresses emerging environmental issues while still maintaining the fundamental concepts of sustainable living and clean energy education. Attendees can access the education, resources, networks, and motivation needed to take action.

The Energy Fair will also host a Clean Energy Career Fair on Friday and Saturday from 5-7 p.m. within the fairgrounds.  Entrance to the Career Fair is free to all job seekers and potential students with a general admission ticket.

Other notable features offered at The Energy Fair this year include keynote speeches by Amy Goodman, Erik Conway, and Trita Parsi; a screening of the documentary “Kiss the Ground” featuring Woody Harrelson; The Energy Fair 5K, Rise Up and Race, presented by NoWhere Vans; musical entertainment from Tae & The Neighborly, Dead Horse, and Nur-D; and 100+ exhibitors.

Admission to the Energy Fair is free for MREA members, volunteers, and children 12 and under. To purchase tickets, visit TheEnergyFair.org. A limited number of Energy Fair campsites may be available.

In addition, there is a free coach bus available on Saturday for showgoers from Milwaukee, along with a $5 bus for Madison riders. Local shuttle service will be offered for free to and from the Stevens Point area at specific hours during the Fair.
