Egg-cellent fun awaits visitors, as the Milwaukee County Zoo celebrates Egg Day sponsored by Racine Danish Kringles. On Saturday, March 30, enjoy springtime-themed activities from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. — all included with Zoo admission unless otherwise noted.
Here are the hoppy highlights for this special day:
- Grab your own set of Bunny Ears to look like our furry friend. Then, pick up a Bingo card and mark spaces as you see items around the Zoo. Once you have a bingo, return your card by 3 p.m. to receive a prize! (Bingo cards will be handed out until 2 p.m.)
- You won’t want to miss the Parade, featuring the Bunny himself! Stop along the parade route during one of its three expeditions, and you might even catch some sweet treats! (10:30 a.m., Noon, 1:30 p.m.)
- The day wouldn’t be complete without an Egg Hunt! Count the golden eggs along the trail and receive a special treat.
- Hippity hop on over to watch animals like big cats, otters, and elephants interact with festive Enrichment Items filled with their favorite foods.
10 a.m. – Pigs (Northwestern Mutual Family Farm)
11 a.m. – Big Cats
11:30 a.m. – Harbor Seals
12 p.m. – Otters
1 p.m. – Elephants
- Show off a fun Face Painting, and then add your chalk flower design to the Garden Path at the Elephant Care Center.
- Hop aboard the North Shore Bank Safari Train and search for the carrots the Bunny left behind. (Fee: $4/person – weather permitting)
- Get into the spirit with Dixie-land jazz from popular group Razzmatazz from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Share your special day for all to see by taking a photo at three special Photo HOPortunities.
Don’t forget to stop and welcome a “gem” of a black-handed spider monkey, Topaz, to the Zoo. She can be viewed on alternating days in the indoor habitat in Primates of the World, sharing space with her old friend and male companion, HueHue. Topaz can be identified by her distinctive dark body color, while HueHue is silver/blonde. (Topaz and HueHue rotate indoor habit space with our other black-handed spider monkey pair, MoMo and Chimal.) Black-handed spider monkeys are currently listed as Endangered in their natural range by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
Zoological Society membership is valid for Egg Day. Registration is not required.
