Help Humane Society shine light for hope

The Wisconsin Humane Society will be shining bright this holiday season with thousands of lights in honor of homeless animals. If you drive by any of their campuses (Milwaukee, Saukville, Racine, Green Bay, Door County, or Kenosha) in December, you’ll see their buildings lit up with thousands of beautiful lights. Each one of those lights represents a gift someone made to help the thousands of animals and families served by WHS annually.

Chaos, before (left) and after (right)

Every year, WHS features a “Hope’s Lights” animal whose story has really touched their hearts. In 2023, that ambassador is a 60lb snuggle monster named Chaos. Weak, thin, and dehydrated, he arrived at the shelter riddled with scrapes and sores from tongue to tail. He had patches of missing fur, inflamed skin, and was fighting to keep anything down despite being desperately hungry and thirsty. After receiving IV fluids, nausea treatment, a specialized diet, medicated baths, and intensive care to save his tail, he began to transform. Within just a few weeks, he gained 22lbs and looked like an entirely new dog. Today, he is fully healed and thriving in a loving home, all thanks to the support of donors like you.

Please help WHS kick off the season of giving with a gift to Hope’s Lights. To donate a light for $25 in honor or memory of a beloved pet, contact the Wisconsin Humane Society at wihumane.org/hope or call (414) 431-6119. Even a single light will make a real difference in the life of an animal in need. Looking for a meaningful gift? You can purchase a light in honor or memory of a beloved pet or animal-lover in your life and send a card to let them know.
