Shine Your Light For Hope

The Wisconsin Humane Society will be shining bright this holiday season with thousands of lights in honor of homeless animals. If you drive by any of their campuses (Milwaukee, Saukville, Racine, Green Bay, Door County, or Kenosha) in December, you’ll see their buildings lit up with thousands of beautiful lights. Each one of those lights represents a gift someone made to help the thousands of animals and families served by WHS annually.

Every year, WHS features a “Hope’s Lights” animal, whose story has really touched their hearts. The 2025, Hope’s Lights animal is DW. DW was brought to us as a stray in heartbreaking condition. Her tail was tucked anxiously, and her prominent ribs, hip bones, and spine showed that she was malnourished, dehydrated, and had been seriously struggling for some time. On top of everything else, DW had multiple pressure sores, exposed scabs, and an infected wound on her hip. After weeks of supportive care, regular veterinary visits, and enrichment time, she gained nearly 20lbs and her once tucked tail was now a wagging testament to her outgoing and joyful personality. DW made a full recovery, and now has a loving family of her own.

Please help WHS kick off the season of giving with a gift to Hope’s Lights. To donate a light for $25 in honor or memory of a beloved pet, contact the Wisconsin Humane Society
here or call (414) 431-6119. Even a single light will make a real difference in the life of an animal in need. Looking for a meaningful gift? You can purchase a light in honor or memory of a beloved pet or animal-lover in your life and send a card to let them know.
